A few German verbs take dative objects instead
of accusative. We have seen: folgen, helfen, raten, versichern and fehlen.
| Folgen Sie immer dem S-Zeichen. |
| Always follow the S-sign. |
| Ich möchte sehen, ob diese Pillen mir helfen können. |
| I’d like to see if these pills can help me. |
| Ich rate Ihnen, zum Arzt zu gehen. |
| I advise you to go to the doctor’s. |
| Ich wollte Ihnen versichern, daß ich Sachen gern diskutiere. |
| I wanted to assure you that I like discussing things. |
| Was fehlt Ihnen denn? |
| What seems to be the matter? |
